Support for business

Vilnius District creates a favourable environment for business start-ups and development and provides incentives and support for small and medium-sized businesses.

In Vilnius District, you can do business by obtaining a business licence or by registering an individual activity. Only certain activities listed in the classification of business licences can be carried out under a business licence.

For more than 20 years, the Vilnius District Municipality Small and Medium Business Support Fund has been actively operating in the municipality, with its activities directly related to financial support for small and medium-sized businesses. The Small and Medium Business Support Fund contributes to the creation of an institutional system of business support in Vilnius District and to increasing the potential for business creation, promoting entrepreneurship of the district’s inhabitants, increasing the competitiveness of enterprises operating in the District, creating a favourable environment for creating new jobs and preserving existing ones.

In order to contribute to reducing emigration and encouraging return emigration, from 2019 Vilnius District Municipality will offer incentives to residents who purchase business licenses for their activities. A 30% reduction is provided for residents who have returned to Lithuania 12 months ago, starting from the date of purchase of the business certificate.
