When you return from abroad, make sure you have compulsory health insurance. All persons covered by compulsory health insurance are entitled to free personal healthcare services in Lithuania, financed by the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund. Free personal healthcare services, except for emergency care, are provided only after verification that you are covered by compulsory health insurance. You can check whether you are insured on the website of the State Patients Fund www.vlk.lt.
If you are covered by compulsory health insurance, you can register with public personal health care providers in Vilnius District and receive personal health care services reimbursed by the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund. The Vilnius District has the Vilnius District Policlinic (Laisvės pr. 79, Vilnius, tel. +370 5 247 0027), which has outpatient clinics and general practitioner's surgeries located throughout the Vilnius District, and the Vilnius District Nemenčinė Clinic (Švenčionių st. 80, Nemenčinė, Vilnius district, tel. (0 5) 237 1365, (0 5) 237 1562).
If you want to become a patient of public personal health care institutions operating in Vilnius district, you have to come to the reception of the chosen personal health care institution (clinic, outpatient clinic, general practitioner's office), or log in through the e-Government Gateway, with the assurance of personal identity verification, by logging in to the Sign-up for a health care institution providing services of a family doctor's team, and to fill in and electronically submit the application of a specific form.
In treatment facilities, persons must provide:
a personal identity document – a passport, identity card, residence permit for foreigners, a Lithuanian birth certificate or passport for children, a residence permit for foreigners, and a personal identity document of one of the parents;
proof of identity and representation of the representative – if the person's representative is applying. Applications from minors must be signed by a parent or, in the absence of a parent, by a guardian.
The person (guardian) shall pay a fee of EUR 0.29 to the institution to which he/she subscribes for the processing of the subscription documents.
