On 27 February, Vilnius District Municipality and representatives of the Odessa Regional State Administration held a remote meeting to discuss possible directions of cooperation in the fields of tourism, economic and business growth.
Robert Duchnevič, the Mayor of Vilnius District Municipality, expressed strong support for Ukraine in this difficult period and emphasized that the municipality is always open to partnership proposals that offer mutual benefits, as international cooperation facilitates the exchange of valuable experiences and best practices.
"Our partnership and solidarity with Ukraine are among the most important priorities of our international relations. We truly want to develop our partnership with Ukraine, as the current geopolitical situation affects all of us. We are pleased to have received a proposal for cooperation from Odessa and are ready to discuss cooperation opportunities," said Mayor R. Duchnevič.
The meeting was also attended by the Head of Odessa Regional State Administration, Oleg Kiper, along with his team, Viktor Hamotskyi, Advisor to the Ambassador of Ukraine, Vida Montvydaitė and Gediminas Miškinis, Chief Advisors of the Vilnius District Municipality Administration, as well as the representatives of the Communication Department.
During the discussions, it was agreed that cooperation could be developed in the areas of tourism promotion and business growth. Vilnius District is seeking ways to promote tourism and expand tourist services, aiming to attract more visitors both from Lithuania and abroad. To enhance these efforts, Vilnius District could draw on the experience of Odessa which - as a world-renowned tourist destination - has valuable knowledge and successful practices.
Additionally, it was discussed that the Ukrainian Embassy could delegate an economic counsellor to the Business Development Council established in Vilnius District, which aims to foster economic growth and business cooperation. This would provide an opportunity to explore potential joint initiatives to strengthen business ties between Vilnius District and Odessa Region.
Oleg Kiper, Head of Odessa Regional State Administration, invited the Mayor of Vilnius District to visit Odessa and familiarize himself with the existing infrastructure in order to better understand the opportunities for collaboration and the development of joint projects.
Vilnius District is committed to strengthening its ties with Odessa Region and hopes that future joint ventures will contribute to the growth and development of both regions in various fields.
