As of January 1st, 2025, babies born to families in the Vilnius District will receive increased benefits from the Vilnius District Municipality: an updated, three times more valuable newborn kit, as well as a new, additional one-time payment of 210 euros.

“The municipality is making great efforts to provide comprehensive support to families in the Vilnius district, who may face a number of difficulties, including financial ones, in their new phase of life. That is why, from the beginning of 2025, we are launching double support for families with newborns: material and financial. We do not rule out the possibility that this one-time payment may increase in the future, and we will continue working to care for each family in the Vilnius district and create a more favorable environment for the residents,” said Robert Duchnevič, Mayor of the Vilnius District Municipality.

We remind you that according to the decision of the Council, starting from January 1, 2025, the Vilnius district newborn kit and its value increased from 50 to 150 euros, and the new one-time payment procedure came into effect: the municipality will allocate a 210 euro one time payment to parents from Vilnius district who have had a newborn.

The payment will be provided to families where at least one parent has registered their residence in Vilnius district no less than 12 months before the child's birth. One of the child's parents will have to submit an application for the benefit no later than 12 months after the child's birth.

At the end of December, the Civil Registry Department of the Vilnius District Municipality Administration already received the baby kits. The updated set includes high-quality and practical items for the baby, which will be especially useful in the first year of life: a contactless thermometer, bedding set, blanket, hooded towel, baby care kit, soft sensory balls, teether, non-slip bath mat,  baby water thermometer, bowl with lid and spoon, rattle toy, pacifier holder with a wooden clasp, and a cotton diaper set.

The kit is provided to babies born in Lithuania, whose at least one parent has registered their residence in Vilnius district or is included in the register of individuals without a residence in the Vilnius district municipality and has registered the child’s birth at the Civil Registry Departament of Vilnius District within 3 months of the child’s birth. In case of illness or temporary absence of the parents, the time limit for the issue of the kit can be extended to 6 months. It should be noted that the newborn kit is non-refundable and non-exchangeable for cash.

Vilnius District Municipality has become one of the seven municipalities in Lithuania where the practice of double incentive is applied – a newborn kit and a financial incentive.
