Meeting with the Kyiv region (Ukraine) – outlining the next steps for collaboration

On March 6th, representatives of the Vilnius District Municipality and the Kyiv Region Administration held a second remote meeting to share experiences, discuss common interests and plan the next steps of cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Vida Montvydaitė, Senior Advisor of the Vilnius District Municipality Administration, Kristina Malinovska, Head of the Social Welfare Department, Beata Bartkienė, Director of the Vilnius District Social Services Centre, Igor Meshchan, Head of the Department of Social Protection of the population of the Kyiv Region, and Mykyta Gerashchenko, Head of the International Cooperation Department.

"We are a socially sensitive municipality, providing assistance, support and social services to the most vulnerable groups in society. We have experience to share with our colleagues in Kyiv, while also learning from their best practices. We are ready to jointly initiate projects that would contribute to the well-being of communities and the strengthening of social protection," said V. Montvydaitė.

During the meeting, representatives of Vilnius District Municipality provided a comprehensive overview of the district’s social policy, social welfare initiatives, services, and support mechanisms available to residents. The participants also discussed the prevention of domestic violence, the results achieved and the development of gender equality policy.

Representatives of the Kyiv region actively engaged with the presented information, asked questions, shared insights, and invited the Vilnius District delegation to visit Kyiv to learn more about their ongoing activities. They also expressed interest in visiting Vilnius District to gain experience in social policy. Additionally, the discussions explored potential avenues for collaboration on joint projects that would strengthen social welfare in both regions.

This was the second meeting with representatives of the Kyiv regional administration to discuss key priorities for building strong international cooperation. Both Vilnius District and Kyiv Region aim to implement mutually beneficial initiatives that will enhance the well-being of their communities.
