The symbols chosen for the coat of arms are a golden pillar symbolising the old Minsk road, where the town of Rukainiai is located, and a winding silver band symbolising the origin of the name of Rukainiai (the name Rukainiai is believed to be derived from the name of the stream flowing through the village – Rukainė).
In heraldry, silver means water, purity, honestly, loyalty. Gold means light, spiritual wealth. Red colour means blood, love, sacrifice, courage and bravery (Simonas Konarskis, the leader of the Polish-Lithuanian uprising of 1830-1831, was arrested in Rukainiai). The colour blue symbolises the spirituality, faith and the pursuit of sciences of the people of Rukainiai. In heraldry, blue symbolises everything related to the sky, peace and wisdom.
The heraldic design was prepared by artist Rolandas Rimkūnas.
