When considering the symbol for the coat of arms of Lavoriškės, the local community wanted to see St. John the Baptist, as the church in Lavoriškės carries the title of this saint, and most of the local population is religious. The coat of arms reflects the religious and historical significance of Lavoriškės, highlighting the connection to Christian traditions.
St. John the Baptist, who himself baptised Jesus, is mentioned in all four Gospels. He was the son of Zacharias, the priest of the Temple in Jerusalem, and his wife Elizabeth. John the Baptist was characterised by his ascetic, reclusive life in the desert and is considered the forerunner of hermit monks.
The red field at St. John the Baptist, with his right hand showing the signs of his baptism and his left hand holding a black staff ending in a golden cross, is an important symbol of Christianity, pointing to his prophetic mission and baptism. The body of the saint is silver, his hair is black, his nimbus and garment are gold.
In heraldry, the red background often represents martyrdom, courage and nobility, as well as passion and self-sacrifice, which are values associated with the lives of saints and their faith.
The coat of arms was designed by artist Rolandas Rimkūnas.
