The symbols chosen for the coat of arms – a golden oak tree with roots in the red shield of the coat of arms – symbolise the beautiful nature of the Dūkštos area and the Dūkštos Oak Grove located here. The oak tree is divided in half by a silver winding band, symbolising the Dūkštos stream, from which the name of the village derives. At the top of the oak is a golden crown with a cross (Mary's crown), symbolically taken from the heraldry of the Piarist monks. In 1743, the Piarist monks were established and actively developed education and strengthened Catholicism in Dūkštos.
In heraldry, silver means water, purity, honesty, fidelity. In heraldry, red means courage and love, gold means light, spiritual wealth, and reminds us that in 1863, the oak tree in Dūkštos was the location of the rebel headquarters, and in the Karmazinai valley – the insurgent hospital.
The coat of arms was designed by artist Rolandas Rimkūnas.
