Didžioji Riešė (the centre of Riešė municipality) has a very rich and interesting history, as well as distinctive natural monuments worthy of being symbols.

The coat of arms of the settlement marks the uniqueness of Didžioji Riešė as the geographical centre of Europe. The shield of the coat of arms depicts important symbols: the golden coloured figures symbolise the sculptures of the “Monument to the Centre of Europe” and the “Stamp” in the “Europos Parkas” museum, which in the overall composition underline the specific geographical location of Riešė. The green colour used in the heraldic cross symbolises the indescribable beauty of the area and its unique natural fauna. In heraldry, this colour also represents freedom, beauty, joy, health and hope.
